High Weirdness on Gamma Terra
High Weirdness on Gamma Terra posted in Gamma World forum comment posted by derek_holland The Ancients were weird man. Most of the homes the heroes will explore have a least a few things that are difficult or impossible to remove that just don't make sense.
- A pulsating sphere that induces dreams of ancient Egypt (pyramids and monstrous mummies) to all who sleep within 500 meters of the house. It may even be long lasting and infectious, those who sleep near the afflicted have the same dream and become carriers themselves.
- In a room that is or was sound proofed there is a massive bronze bell, or what appears as a bell. Ringing it deafens everyone within a few meters but then they gain the ability to sense some other reality. It isn't sight or hearing, but a feeling that is impossible to describe to others without it.
- Resplendent blocks that sit in mid air and have something like a goo pool on each face. Contact with one of the fluids brings joy and terror. Contact with more than one adds more emotions.
- A mural that consumes whoever activates it, adding them to its image. No one has ever been retrieved from this item. They may even be dead and the image something else entirely.
- An hourglass 3 meters tall on an axle. Turning it and allowing the sand to flow creates images that seem to show the passage of time affecting people, critters and places.
- A door that seems to be chain sometimes and a portcullis others. It is blurry and feels slimy to the touch. Those who attempt to cut or bend it find their limbs limp and covered with feathers for a few hours.
- Symbols on a wall that sing and emit small crystals when pressed in the correct order. No one has found a use for the stones as they are relatively soft.
- A metallic tree with all 45 signs of the Zodiac. Staring at one for more than a minute sends the mind elsewhere in the world, though the location is random for each trip. The hero can end the effect anytime they wish.
These sorts of things are what drive Restorationists mad. They study the phenomena for lifetimes and get nowhere in understanding or replicating the technology.
