I've said that the work described in "The Taurus Contract" might take about two years, so at minimum, I'm specifying that the system required to recharge a mass reactor of the size assumed in
Starships costs more than 2 x 2 x $25,000 = $100,000. There are probably some assumptions to pull out of the figures listed for ship loans to find a reasonable break-even period. That makes the dark matter collector stats I've listed elsewhere look pretty cheap, or the reactor size served pretty large.
Hull space would also be a factor, to a varying degree depending what else the ship or station needed to fit in that space. If it was cargo, that would also impact a freighter's or trading station's profit.
