Mutant Crawl Classics
Mutant Crawl Classics posted in Gamma World forum comment posted by derek_holland As I am waiting for Unnatural Selections 3 to show up, I skimmed through the first two to refresh myself on their contents and suddenly realized something- they are treasure troves of mutations that can be applied to just about any sort of creature. Here are a couple examples using those "special properties":
- Take a cow and give it the filament spray of the giant sea cucumber, the bivalve of the mutated mollusk, and the swim feature for giant mammals. The result is a weird animal that can dive into water and hide itself in a shell (which only opens and closes in water). If it is in danger, the mutant cow can spew its guts in the form of a net from its rear, a way to gross out the players and characters as well as reducing the chances of them getting steak dinners and some leather to sell.
- A small species of pterosaur has camouflaged from giant reptile, body snatcher from meteor man, and arcan transformation- terraform environment from mystic. These flying reptiles are translucent and are hard to discern on the ground, much less when they are flying. As a flock they can mind control other creatures (terrestrial ones) and force them to rip off their own heads. Once that is done, one of the pterosaurs fits itself onto the neck and takes control of the body. Only when that is done can the reptiles use their most powerful mutation- the ability to create trees from soil and rock. These trees are where they roost after eating the heads and bodies of their victims. They do not have the other possible powers from terraforming, otherwise they may very well take over the world one corpse at a time.
