| Alternity assumes compatibility of FX skills (and psionic skills for that matter) with all realities. That shouldn't be the case. Whenever an adept visits a new universe, they should try a spell or two and see what happens. If they are lucky it will work, less so if it can not, but the worst is if the spells do something other than their original effects. They may get something wondrous but that won't matter in the long run as that effect may very well be restricted to that specific tangent. |
What are the origins of such powers? Are they natural principles or particular deities, objects, pacts or phenomena? It might affect the way that they vary, either like tangent attributes or as yes/no presence, and what a trained adept has to do to gain access.
Compatibility of mindwalking powers could be a biological or physics question or, again, a source or past event.
While it's not necessarily the same question as clustering of Fantastic tangents, it supports the idea, if Lucent Technologies' model of superspace is accurate (very much an open question, I've suggested) that Fantastic tangents should often lie more distant from each other, whatever that means, than in the Baseline region.
These decisions describe qualities of the whole or large regions of superspace. Is a RPG campaign larger than the multiverse? Actually, yes, we can put our copy of
Tangents on the shelf and play something different any time.
