Tales and Legends of Gamma Terra
Tales and Legends of Gamma Terra posted in Gamma World forum comment posted by derek_holland One very common tale around campfires and in bars with mutant plants and animals is how the Ancients were of their species. Humans either were pets, warriors and laborers (thus the genetic locks) or invaders that stole their technology. In any case the species in question usually explains why they can't use advanced tech because the genetic locks in them were changed during the Final Wars.

The android that saved Polish (the one in Texland) from a swarm of clanking worms. Some how it could be almost everywhere at once, shooting from rooftops and in allies the city over. After it left, all other androids were given a wide berth or were feted for their relative's heroics.
(The android was able to reactivate the city's defenses and then power them down after the robots were defeated.)

There is a giant serpent that creates clouds of smoke. It somehow can climb the pillars into the clouds, occasionally taking others with it.
(A misinterpretation of a flying train.)

I like "just so" tales, such as how did the zebra get its stripes. Here are a few for Gamma Terra. Keep in mind none of them are true, just fancy BS told to kids to explain the world when the teller is ignorant of the truth.
- How did the obb get its eye? (There are only as many survivors of germination as there were eyes of the corpse they grew on.)
- How did menarls get so many arms? (They are mergers of humans and serpents made in Ancient fleshpits (i.e. biofactories).)
- Why did the Moon turn red? (The Final Final War was up there and blood doesn't decay in a place with no air.)
- How did the Ancients tame lightning? (They made a bargain with cloud dwelling aliens. The breaking of the bargain is why clouds shoot lightning at the ground from time to time.)
