There is also the possibility they could mimic just about anything, including machines, to draw prey and scatter predators or scavengers.
One of the organs I thought of is something like a wind chime in their feathers.
Intelligent mutants with these songs could be very popular entertainers throughout the wastes. If they had light controlling mutations or artifacts, they would be the rock gods of the setting.
