Magic Items posted in Fantasy and Progress Level 3 forum comment posted by derek_holland Brian Henson's version of Jack and The Beanstalk has the harp and goose as something like a sampo of the Sankrara (sp??) stones from Temple of Doom- an artifact that provides prosperity to a land or world. What is interesting is that they are a divided artifact, much like the AD&D Rod of Seven Parts of Regalia of Might. In other words, the prosperity is only obtained when both parts are used together.
But that could be changed for a game setting. Each part could have a lesser effect, one that builds with every part that is obtained. Eventually the artifact will grant epic power to those who find all the parts and know how to combine them correctly.
And then there is the possibility of completed artifacts that can in themselves be used as components for even greater works of artifice. Even people well versed in the lore of the individual artifacts don't know they can be combined with others as that has happened so rarely, or never before.
Have you ever used such an artifact?
