It creates a new book and does not damage or destroy the originals. In addition to crossover fan fiction type results, the spell can be used for magic research though the results need to be tested thoroughly. It is best to use it on scrolls with single spells as that reduces the chances of catastrophic consequences.

I was thinking of my idea for the mad engineer in Barrier Peaks and it occurred to me that one way to turn her from foe into ally, or at least a lesser threat, is to cure her insanity with Restoration. Now I wonder, will that work on undead? It wouldn't make them less dangerous but it could turn the encounter from automatic combat into a potential parley.
