The best idea uses FX and creates a new species based around one or two traits of the donor. This is difficult, takes a long time and is expensive as the biomancer has to design the rest of the organism. The advantage is those traits may be impossible to duplicate with any other process.
The smart biomancer makes a couple of these critters and then breeds them, both between the two and outcrossing with compatible species.
