Locations of Gamma Terra posted in Gamma World forum comment posted by derek_holland Rattii is a hidden enclave of the descendants of the lab rat. Unlike almost everyone else, they have not only retained much of the knowledge of the Ancients, the rats have gone more advanced in a few fields- tangent exploration, astrophysics, and synthetic subatomic particle fabrication. They want to develop new weapons to defend themselves against their only serious foe, The Created, but do not have access to those sorts of Ancient facilities.
The rats descend from several strains, though they have interbred to the point where the original traits are lost or commonplace. Instead they have broken themselves up by which sort of personal enhancement they prefer- parasite mutation, cyberware or nano-enhancement (the last being superscience FX from Beyond Science). They do not impress this upon their pups and allow all to pick which is the best for themselves. This has prevented the creation of dynasties that would cause political disruption to their fairly egalitarian society.
Finding Rattii itself is difficult, finding their agents is less so. Convincing them of helping or trading may be difficult as they are paranoid of Ancient robots and computers, even those that appear as enemies of the Created. They flee androids and claim and reprogram all the junked robots they find.
Rattii isn't a promised land, even for other rats, but it is a potential ally or enemy in the wastes.
