The glucust from Machines & Mutant is an excellent example of biological control- give the queen a sample and her brood consumes all the individual organisms within 5-10 km that are of the same genotype. |
It also turns the collected flesh or vegetable matter into food back at its hive. Some variants:
- One that collects high energy vegetable matter, such as explosive fruit, to create fuel that has five times the energy of gasoline.
-Another that filters salt from seawater and stores chlorine and sodium in membranes in the hive.
- The third breaks down bare bones and likewise stores calcium and phosphorous in membranes.
- The fourth collects genetic samples and keeps the data in a vat computer in its hive. Restorationists who work on biotech find this data invaluable.
- And the last collects memories and thoughts with a mental mutation it picked up long after the Final Wars. It does not permanently drain them, just copies from a short range. Coming in contact with its hive can be overwhelming and may inflict a permanent mental defect if the character suffers a Critical Failure on a mental resolve check.
