- Artifacts with Environmental Dependence have one or more functions that work only in specific environments. For the most part I would restrict this to atmospheric and aquatic chemistry as most other restrictions may make the artifact less useful, if not useless.
- Artifacts for species with Poor Vision may have displays that are hard to discern for those with better vision.
- Those artifacts created by species with Density Control can likewise change volume. A Critical Failure for an activation roll results in a device too large or too small to use effectively.
- Artifacts created by beings with Dual Brains may need two single-brained users.
- Phobias and Allergies may be attacked or otherwise negated automatically by an artifact.
- A species that uses Possession to control their tech created artifacts that require uploaded minds to function. Unlike the creator species, downloading may be much more difficult.
- Artifacts created by species with Increased Balance are typically unbalanced and difficult to wield in the field. Their architecture is also difficult to explore for more clumsy species.
- Artifacts created by species with Multiple Eyes (actually sets of eyes) have several displays that need to be used simultaneously.
- Artifacts created by species with Speed Reader have displays that are hard to understand by those who need more time to understand them.
- Bioluminescent species may not have any artifacts as light sources (the displays are most likely still lit, they just can't be used as flashlights).
- Artifacts created by species with Plant or Animal Control are likely biotech and are very difficult to use by others.
- Incomplete artifacts may be a sign of precursors that had Conjure Tool. They in effect created parts as needed, allowing for a simple device with many functions. One that has a jury-rigged attachment may be hiding a great deal of potential. Experimentation can result in wonders or horrors depending on the primary theme of the artifact.
