Gamma Age technology
Gamma Age technology posted in Gamma World forum comment posted by derek_holland Knowledge of physics and chemistry may be lower than in the Shadow Age, but they are still fairly advanced in some parts of the wastes.
- Farmer fields that on platforms that pivot to face the sun. This increases yields up to 10%. If the farmer has access to solar lights and uses them at night, the yield can be increased by 50%.
- Formulae that alter the melting and boiling point of materials. These can be applied directly to them or incorporated into the substance when it is fabricated/manufactured.
- Heat sink air conditioning that stores energy. How it is released (heat, vibration, light, etc.) depends on the method of creation and materials used.
- Long mounds of metal fragments surrounding an electromagnet. When powered, the magnet turns the fragments into a wall that is almost as durable as if it were solid. Useful for gates and wall that collapse when people need to escape. There is work on using this for buildings but the issues with corners has prevented its implementation unfortunately.
- Elevators based on chemistry rather than mechanics. Something like flubber is placed in the walls and its elasticity is controlled with heat or electricity. If it is temperature dependent, the elevators may be useful in only certain times of the year.
