My clearest interpretation of actions in this scene is that one of the opponents circles with a jetpack and batters the
Knight Errant with grenades, as the others assault the
Stellar Damsel, blasting the airlock and trying to clamp on, at first trying to reserve prisoners rather than killing everybody. The heroes would very much like to flee in their ship but will have to get past the attackers to be able to do so.
Human-size targets probably give a +4 penalty in
Warships as for missiles (but
Knight Errant's mass cannon has some bonuses) while a person shooting ar a trader-size starship might get a -2 bonus. No stats are given for the
Damsel's crew, including Guro, so they're Extras and can't provide additional items.
Edge check: Heli (close but) Marginal, Trooper #1 Marginal. Rerolling, Heli succeeds. Projectile fire at close range: trooper hits, Anashe misses with the mass cannon. 8w HI/G for a direct hit with a fragmentation grenade, downgrades to Stun, armour blocks 6.
The crevasse shudders ominously under starship weapons fire.
Grenades blast in the
Damsel's airlock outer door. The crew get ready to catch them as they enter with the expected tactic of "stand behind Preet". Preet has light cover, others have medium cover. Action checks: Amazing, Good, Marginal, Preet Marginal, troopers coordinate on Ordinary. Burst fire from Cliff: Amazing! 4m, armour blocks 3 with 2w, 2s secondary, knockout check: taken out! Cliff again and Rutherford: Ordinary, miss, blocked by armour. Rutherford fires and misses, two troopers attempt Armor Operation to enter the hull: succeed, and fire with typical Thuldan charge rifles at Preet: one Ordinary hit for 7w, downgrades to Stun and armour blocks 5, shaken off with Armor Operation. G'Len and Preet fire: That pistol jams again! and Ordinary: 6w on #2, armour blocks 3 and secondary 3 Stun. Troopers fire again: two Good hits, ineffective against a body tank.
Edge check: Trooper #1 eventually succeeds. Projectile fire: Anashe misses, trooper misses. Mass cannon bolts and grenades break chunks off the crevasse walls.
Action checks: Marginal, Ordinary, Marginal, Ordinary and troopers: Ordinary, Marginal. Rutherford and Preet: miss, Ordinary for 5w, armour blocks 2 and 2s secondary. Trooper #3 switches to a grenade launcher. Oops. The crew fire: Rutherford Amazing! 1 Mortal blocked by armour but a knockout check: succeeds. Preet Ordinary: 5w blocked by armour, 2s secondary. G'Len can at least get a spacehand's zero-G pistol from someone. Trooper #3 fires! On target, 5w reduced by armour to 3, Cliff and Rutherford try to dodge: Cliff fails and takes Good damage, reduced by armour to 2m, 2w, 2s. Rutherford dodges for Ordinary, 3 reduced by armour to 1m, 1w, 1s. Trooper #4 readies a grenade launcher.
They're not breaking off yet.
Edge check: Trooper #1 succeeds. Projectile fire: Anashe misses, trooper on target for 7w, reduced to Stun, armour blocks 5.
Action checks with penalties: Marginal, Ordinary, Marginal, Amazing, Marginal, Ordinary. Do or die stuff! Preet fires two bursts: Amazing! Knockout check for #3: succeeds. Good phase: misses. Rutherford misses, #4 off target, 2 metres left, Cliff and G'Len are in cover. Troopers should have tried to dodge Ordinary damage last round and can do so again now: Rutherford fails, that's 4 Mortals. Preet 3w blocked by armour. Trooper #3 would have failed: armour blocks primary damage but 1w, this round: fail, armour blocks damage, #4: dodges damage. Marginal phase: Cliff fires and misses. G'Len misses. Grenades: #3 on target, #4 off target, 2m back and right. Cliff: fails for 2m, 1w, 1s, dodges into cover from the other. G'Len succeeds: 2m, 1w. 1s, dodges into cover from the second. Preet takes 1w and shakes off Stuns, armour blocks the second. Trooper #3 armour blocks the first damage, Last Resort not to take the second grenade in the face: armour blocks primary damage but another 2w. Trooper #4: dodges the first damage but 3m, 3w, 3s from his grenade.
Edge check: I'll say a Critical Failure is worse than Marginal. Movement: Trooper #1 withdraws. Can he get into cover from a shot? Armor Operation: succeeds
Action checks: Marginal, Ordinary, Ordinary, Ordinary, Marginal. G'Len and Preet fire: miss, Ordinary for 3w, drops Trooper #3, who was going to withdraw. Cliff staggers back into cover. G'Len and Preet: miss, Ordinary hit for secondary 1w on #4. Trooper #4 withdraws.
