Creature Design Philosophy
Creature Design Philosophy posted in Gamma World forum comment posted by derek_holland Some MCC bestiaries have creatures that play off of real species names, such as the foxglove in Fight this Mutant (it is a flying fox skin that engulfs and suffocates prey). I haven't been much of a fan of the idea but it is one way to design new critters.
- The hackberry is a tree with fruit that carries computer viruses. Any device that has a CPU that comes into contact with the fruit or its juice is exposed to that tree's specific virus.
- Telephone-pole beetles raise cell towers and hook them up to local power supplies. They usually add lethal defenses to prevent others from damaging or scavenging the towers' tech.
- Stellar's sea lions glow and use telekinesis to create a defensive halo of stones, bones, or junk- anything small and hard. Anything trying to strike or bite the animal will get battered by the items.
- Snakeflies are long and slender. They live in pipes or similar spaces and keep them clean to allow for quick entrance or escape.
- Boxelder is a small tree that forms containers with its limbs that protect objects with stasis, slowing time to 1/10th normal.
