One of the worst for the Gamma Age are trees that turn their heartwood into tar once they reach 20 meters tall. The complex organic soup contains several useful substances but only for those who have the right sort of refinery. Not many of those remain and building new ones is beyond almost everyone.
Why are these plants the worst- when they die, they break open and dump tar at their base, the material so sticky it can hold elephants fast. The tar is also very flammable and wild fires that burn the trees with tar and the tar on the ground have much more toxic smoke than normal.
People do harvest and use the tar, though burning it is much like using high sulfur coal in a hut- much shortened lifespans and the occasional house fire that is harder to put out.
