Hmm, there could be plant versions that could turn life back to any era after plants invaded land (so ~400 million years ago IIRC). The heroes could bring back new crops that provide better harvests and find that their livestock and other crops have turned into weird critters and flora.

Some of the uncommon species of Deathlands (i.e. those places still blasted by radiation) are descendants of organisms modified for life on Mars or Mercury.
Would those modified for life on Saturn be able to survive in the deep sea? (The answer is yes for Gamma World, but how about other settings?)
