Occasionally a basilisk petrifies so many creatures that the weight of the statues cause the ground to collapse. If the hole reaches into the Chthonic Lands, the statue fragments will combine into Earth purple worms (i.e. elementals with purple worm stats).
Planar games may have spiritual components. Mortals that dare to play will suffer even if they win as their souls are affected.
The energy needed to communicate between some planes is enough to cool (send) or ignite (receive) volcanoes.
Thunderstorms are captured and taken to the Chthonic Lands to provide electricity, water and wind for factories. All kinds of things are made in such places, from mining tools to flesh golems.
Sea medusas can petrify wood as well as flesh. They do this to create reefs to cause more wrecks and provide more food and treasure. As the (what is a group of medusas called?) do this throughout centuries, they expand their islands into mazes of reefs and land. Only at the center is the original island and its sources of food and water.
Fish oil made from tuna fed on dragon scales add a temporary enhancement to gemstones. Their value increases 10-20 fold, but only for a month or two.
Another fish has a toxin that causes paralysis and visions. The latter are experiences of existence as events rather than living or non-living things.
There is a spell that makes a permanent statue of the caster. They make a pose, cast the spell and then step out of the resulting artwork. The material is dependent of the material component.
Familiars may be enhanced by giving them unusual skills:
- If trained in tactics, the animal can assist in plans, especially if it is using a map.
- If trained in accessing black markets, the familiar has contacts among the animals that help bypass barriers set up by humanoids (or other people).
- If trained in playing music, they can construct instruments that provide mesmerizing tones, though it is usually an acquired taste.
