Caravan Components
Caravan Components posted in Gamma World forum comment posted by derek_holland - Corpse wagon. The carcass of a large critter turned into a wheeled wagon. The odor and sight of it may keep some hostile creatures at bay.
- Climber wagon. These need to be pulled on level surfaces but not on inclines. A material in them gives them an innate ability to move up on their own. This is slow and most caravans use it to speed ascents with some pulling creature. The downside is going downhill. Up the mass is effectively halved whereas going down it is effectively doubled.
- Slime wagon. An ooze that has no riders, just engulfed containers. Not fast, but not terribly slow either.
- Stench cart. This holds a container and has large, porous wheels that are used to leave a trail of something that will become stinky a few minutes after being exposed to air. Used only in the wilds, it prevents most tracking beasts from following the caravan. The wheel contain a catalyst that activates the stench. this prevents the cart from becoming an impossible to fix disaster if there is a crash and spill.
- Dry cart. Hold a dehumidifier and "makes" water. Usually solar powered but may also run on power cells for increased production.
- Flash cart. On the move it looks dull. When near known communities it is partially opened and set up to produce a lot of color and sound to draw potential customers.
- Winged wagon. Why go down long mountain roads when one can just jump and make the trip in one tenth the time? Usually hauled by spiders or other mutants that can cling to the wagon during the descent.
- Gem wagon. Mostly transparent and extremely durable. Less for defense and more for impressing the more ignorant as it usually looks like the cargo is levitating and protected by a force screen.
