The Book Review Thread
The Book Review Thread posted in General Zone forum comment posted by derek_holland I got Chasm City a few days ago at the library. I have heard of it but never took the time to read it.
The setting is fairly interesting, a mixture of biotech and nanotech, say late PL 7 without FTL. The specific location of the book is a city that suffered a massive nanotech attack that struck tech only, esp the more advanced things. Such as buildings that grew and changed as their owners wished.
The downside is the twists are hamfisted or clumsy. The hints are right out in the open with no subtlety involved.
Still, if you want an advanced setting to play it, this book and the others in the series are worth a look if you have the time.
Edit- I forgot to mention the last book I posted about in this thread is a major dud unless you are a hardcore Middle Earth fan and want to see elements of it in a scholarly way. So many pages wasted on how old elves get and how time changed between the Second and Third Ages.
