Caravan Components
Caravan Components posted in Gamma World forum comment posted by derek_holland Ideas for things found in caravans and nomadic convoys.
- Uniroller, duoroller, triroller. These high speed vehicles are used to protect the caravan. The duo and trio are spheres within spheres and may contain water for aquatic riders. The more spheres, the faster and more durable the roller is.
- Prop bike. These have a propeller on the front. Fast, lethal for impacts, fragile and typically needs repair every few days/encounters.
- Bomb bike. Usually cheap gunpowder and driven by brainwashed clones. Effective versus the larger critters in the wastes. May contain additives to produce a strong odor or poisonous afterbite.
- Invisicrawler. Yup, a slower and invisible defensive vehicle. Very hard to detect if the driver and crew have their own form of camo.
- Mutant ground/tiger beetles. The fastest of the giant arthropods and strong enough to pull the heavier wagons.
- Root tumblers. For those who prefer plants. Has Increased Speed and at least two forms of attack to deal with herbivores and raiders.
Many of the following wagons are service based rather than those for hauling goods. This increases the value and expense of the caravan.
- Truth Seeker wagon. Usually these are telepaths with only the rare precog. The latter tend to go mad when exposed to all those strange fates in the wastes.
- Oven wagon. For cooking and heat dependent people and artifacts.
- Agony wagon. Contains an artwork of a muse device. May be considered an oracle by the superstitious.
- Fruit wagon. Has several plants with regenerating parts or fruits. Fertilizer is usually easy to come by. Usually.
- Steam wagon. Produces steam and vapor for pest control for the rest of the caravan. Usually hauled by the fastest engine or critter so that it can move up and down the line throughout the day and strategically placed at night. Water is the primary cost as the heat can be created by artifacts or hired mutants.
- Steel drops. At least one caravan has a few blimps hauling these containers, which are drop shaped. (The blimps are painted to look like clouds, thus the overall motif.)The trader calls them down as needed and if raiders look like they are going to overwhelm the defenses, can send them back to home base and smash the controls.
