Locations of Gamma Terra
Locations of Gamma Terra posted in Gamma World forum comment posted by derek_holland Teakettlers are living chemical factories in Machines & Mutants. They live in temperate forests and I got to thinking what their impact may be on their habitat:
- They have no capacity to dig and yet want the elements in much of the buried junk, so they create and use explosives. Teakettlers are smart enough to have mining locations so that they don't make the majority of the forest difficult to move in. They aren't nimble in the least and need fairly flat terrain to get around.
- They are experts at layering like the British. They knock down trees with desirable fruits and leaves and then apply special growth hormones to get the plants to form many roots and new trunks from the existing branches. They may coppice as well, though that usually takes tools, and they are very primitive.
- Their sleeping grounds could be protected by pools of ammonia or something equally noxious. The chemicals aren't harmless to the teakettlers but that matters little when the choice is between living with stench and dying.
- Piles of dense plastic created from fallen leaves are territory markers between herds. As people harvest them, the teakettlers simply make more.
- Or they create something more durable, like resin fences that release highly toxic gasses when damaged.
