Social organisms that create roosts, lairs, settlements, etc. almost always add some defensive elements to their layout or structure. Those that don't are either really powerful or are generally inedible and not collectors (like packrats). That is a reason to add traps, false paths, locks, multiple escape routes, etc. to the homes of just about everything.

Recently an undead nation dominated by vampires have had a serious breech in its security. Someone or thing is infusing spirits and corpses with elemental energy, turning them into elementals. This isn't random as the entities being transformed are key members of the defense and intelligence agencies.

The heroes are undead that are part of a different nation dominated by ghosts, one that wants to know what is going on and if it may impact them. The idea that some of their numbers could become beings of fire that can actually burn the nation to the ground terrifies them. The heroes are diplomatic envoys who are openly looking into the matter. They aren't spies so much as detectives as the power structures they normally would compromise are falling apart and normal operations are rendered impossible.

The Ancients modified their buildings to make them very comfortable to humans, their allies, and pets. Sometimes this simply means those species heal a little faster when resting in intact structures, while in other times it means mental healing as well. In either case, the mechanics are simple, a -1 step bonus to those checks.

On the other hand, the materials in some of the decaying structures have an odd side effect- they alter indoor echoes. If you have some favored sound/language dependent spells, they can be converted for this.

Liquid Processor is both a blessing and curse. Apply some of it to a computer with open ports and it configures into additional memory and processing (how much depends on the amount of fluid used). 95% of the time, this is all boost. The rest of the time, it is a disaster as feedback from the new add-on destroys the computer within a few seconds.

The Created are not fans of Liquid Processor as several of their important members, including a few military bots, have fallen to it.

On the other hand, it can upgrade a Ancient Age machine into Shadow Age quality. Restorationists, Programmers and Archivists consider it something along the Holy Grail.
