Not only could this be used to make a literal Bag of Holding, but it could be used on spacecraft to increase their bonus hull points.
I can see an OGA system, with different compression ratios (4-to-1, 8-to-1, and 12-to-1). For reference, a 480 HP hull in Warships has 96 bonus HP. With those compression ratios, you could have 384 HP, 768 HP, and 1152 HP in bonus points, only using the original bonus HP in the hull. As this is bonus HP, it doesn't count for calculations for a ship's engines, FTL drive, armor, shields, or detection, though it may require its own life support.
Vessels, vehicles, and equipment armed with this technology would be extremely powerful, with small ships being able to carry entire fighter wings that rival the fortress ships of the previous era.
