Here is one defect that should be fairly common.

Immobility
Extreme, CON, Automatic

The mutant has their Move stat reduced to 0. They can still move other sorts of limbs, such as branches, tentacles and arms. Those mutants who gain this defect in play have their mobility limbs or mental mutations wither and become useless unless they are vital to another, non-movement related mutation.

Plants obviously are the major group that have this defect but it can be found in all other species. It may be a good idea to spend some skill points on creature handling and construction skills that allow the mutant to train mounts and/or build contraptions to get around.

From the Galactic Sentience Catalog, something like Changelings could easily appear in many settings, not least because the leading species might barely recognise their presence, likewise, predatory beings in human guise such as Jamila.

Just reading a bit and remembering more about the influence of doppelgangers in D&D at the scale of town affairs, small battles or more .. A little-known and less believed alien species (though that's not the sole possibility) of shapeshifters prone to work for pay for different human or External powers might insert some strange and disturbing incidents into Star*Drive's history.

By now nothing should surprise us about the asteroids in our solar system. We have dust piles being held together by vacuum welding, tera-tons of precious metals, weird mixes of frozen hydrocarbons, gases and water, asteroids with their own moons, and at least one probably interstellar visitor.

And just yesterday I read that a telescope searching for dark matter in the outer solar system had added anything between 100 to 300 minor planets / large asteroids to the solar system's inventory.

Kind of makes the '"there are 9 planets and 42 moons in the solar system" that we were taught at school sound a little... embarrassingly small minded.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to good news from Space in May, when Space-X is expected to deliver its first live humans to ISS. Unless of cause this current global pandemic doesn't push things back.

Epic nightmare beasts (not the Athas critter, something new) return every strike against them with a combination of Maze and Phantasmal Killer. Keep in mind the nightmares of epic characters are much more terrifying than those of mere mortals.

Some natural resources regenerate. There is a limited number or amount but harvesting never results in extinction or elimination. There is always more to be found.

Fecund places (jungles, swamps, similar) are unnatural. They are signs of biomagic or radiant life.

Awakened dogs are very popular police officers, especially with kids.

Breeding colors for some races are astoundingly ornate or even supernatural. For example, some elf subraces became gaudy and others take on the appearance of magical plants.

Catherynne Valente's (channelling Douglas Adams and David Brin pretty strongly) Space Opera has about a dozen species in the first chapter, space flamingos (of sorts) by Chapter 2 and more mentioned along the way.

A space flamingo species ability:

Nonconsensual Infrasonics: At the start of an encounter, creatures who can hear the sounds of an Esca's flute-ribs have their attitude towards the Esca improved by one step. Creatures aware of this ability who began as Unfriendly or worse become Hostile.

It's well worth a look at a map.

Maybe there's potential for a more systematic way to describe or generate similar circumstances across multiple locations (the locations being in space, in theory affecting the form and factors of the model significantly). edit: It doesn't have to be goats - it could be vanilla beans, or cherry wood, or ambergris.
