There is a druid spell that vivimancers have been trying to mimic without success. It allows one to move between bloodlines, leaving the old forever. Why Nature would keep this power for herself, who knows?
Necromancers can steal faces from the dead without touching their corpses. The range for this is 10', far enough to reach into most graves. The stolen faces can be used to talk to the dead and as clumsy disguises- only the face, not the body is duplicated.
I recently finished Fables and I found a few things worth nicking: boxing of elder entities to steal their power, the tree that is infinite in height and leads to many worlds (it may or may not be Yggdrasil, but has interesting visuals), and especially one witch's magical implements.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frau_Totenkinder I just wish that page included more than her base of power. Her darning needles are her weapons and her shawl, damn it I don't remember. In any case the idea of magic items that change with the caster through centuries is something worth exploring.
A couple weird things from a dream last night:
- Smudges are mineral creatures that dwell among the clouds. Annoy them and they can reach down and turn you into a smudge on the ground.
- Worlds within buildings, each room containing its own seas and continent. The hallways and stairs are waterways. The sun and stars are only visible through the windows. The walls and ceilings have their own populations of strange beings, ones that rarely visit the continents.
