Some may want to look more machine, esp those in the Created, while others may take on the current fads of the cultures they dwell in* and then there are those that wish to emulate non-human species due to admiration of behaviors or powers.
Androids encountered by the heroes should be no easier to identify by sight than mutant humans.
* They may or may not be a part of the cultures depending on their lifespans and residual programming from the time when they were "servants" of the Ancients.
