Mutations
Mutations (rules, examples, misc) posted in Gamma World forum comment posted by derek_holland In wish that the first edition of Metamorphosis Alpha had more complex mutations. They and most of the ones in subsequent editions of MA and GW are simple, typically single use ideas*. That isn't a bad thing but something more complex can allow for more involved mutation, i.e. the time the character takes to gain the mutation or defect. In all the editions I have read the process takes hours or less and the powers or advantages gained only appear once the mutation has finished the transformation.
Something to consider when designing new mutations- something that the hero can use or try to mitigate as they are mutating.
* I can think of one in 6e that had several advantages and disadvantages, Tumorization.
